Nadia Kalara is a visual artist who lives and works in Thessaloniki, Greece. She holds a PhD from the School of Architecture, University of Thessaly, an MA in Fine Arts from School of Art and Design of the University of East London and a BA in Painting from the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Her artwork works like a dialectic between history, landscape and architecture. It deals with the fragment as art, the experience of the ruin, stereotypes of national identities, the use of the photographic medium as an automatic recording of the gaze on matter, the interchangeability between the original and its copies, repetitions, reconstructions and simulations. Her practice runs through multiple media. In her shows, she often attempts to create a complex perceptual situation of contemplation, physical visit and reading, encouraging viewers to refigure spatiality and meaning. Ultimately, her work aspires to constitute a comment on the nature and condition of representation. Her work has been exhibited in Greece, U.K., Russia and Italy.

She is currently associate professor in Visual Arts at the School of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, having previously taught in the Schools of Architecture of the Universities of Thessaly, Patras and in National Technical University of Athens.
