Platform Sphinx, 2010

floor sculpture

In the visual motif that appears on this floor piece and in its layout, one can read the idea of whirling, of rotation: the outdated mechanical hand, rotates, is a prosthetic limb that looks like a propeller. Thus, the prosthesis becomes the mechanism that produces motion. The prosthetic limb, the substitute for a defect, has the power to cause movement and displacement. In other words, what is missing, disability, gives hope for change. The reference to the Sphinx in the title is a metaphor for the enigma of origin, beginnings, starting point.
